31 Aug 2018
The APF has completed a player welfare review and the recommended changes and revised rules were adopted at the APF Board meeting on 20th August 2018. Key rule changes effective immediately for players and clubs to note are:
- changes to the medical attendance at polo events (Annex E to Part 2)
- club responsibilities for medical attendance and planning (Annex E to Part 2)
- everyone handling or riding horses including grooms must now wear closed toed boots at polo venues. (Part 2. Rule 2.2h)
There is a requirement for all players to wear a helmet with a 3 point harness attachment (Part 2. Rule 2.3), this is effective from the 1st October 2018 to allow players time to replace unsuitable helmets. From the 1st October umpires will check all players have a helmet with a 3 point harness attachment before the start of any match, club captains will need to ensure correct helmets are used for practice chukkas.
First Aid training will be provided to club appointed officals and details of the dates and venues will be advised in due course. We anticipate that at least 2 people from each club will attend the training provided, please contact your club if you would like to nominate for this training. The programs can be delivered either face to face of via an online program dependant on each regions needs.
