Ashton polo history going to auction
4 May 2017
Eleanor Ashton informs the polo community that the Ashton family have recently sold a property called Markdale in the Southern Tablelands which was home to the Ashton brothers for the first 10 years of their polo career in the 1920s and 30s.
On the weekend of 12-14 May, which coincides with the Goulburn polo tournament, they will be holding a viewing at Markdale of a little over 360 lots followed by an auction in Crookwell.
The auction catalogue includes quite a bit of polo and horse themed items, including Eleanor's grandfather’s old polo boots, hand powered horse clippers, polo sticks and a specialist travel case from London, saddles, bridles, helmets, monogrammed horse rugs, trophies and art.
Eleanor has some photos of
those items and photos of
Markdale itself in dropbox so they can be downloaded. And there is more basic information on the
website. If the Ashton polo history is of any interest, Eleanor an information sheet on that too.
