Polo Pony Deaths
9 Feb 2018
The Australian Polo Federation has recently been made aware that some 16 polo ponies died while in transit from Tasmania to the mainland. As with the loss of any horses from the broader polo community, the Australian Polo Federation was saddened by this news. The Australian Polo Federation considers the health and wellbeing of any polo pony to be paramount in its administration of the sport of polo in Australia. The Australian Polo Federation is not in a position to comment on the incident, in any way, until all investigations by the appropriate authorities have been concluded.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Andrew Williams, John Kahlbetzer, their families and teams on the loss of their horses.
Andrew Williams would like to thank the polo community for the support they have given at this difficult time, once again our tight knit polo community has rallied together and been exceptional in their kindness, support and generosity.
Tim Clarke
Chairman, Australian Polo Federation
